Santo Daime
Santo Daime is a spiritual tradition rooted in the Brazilian Amazon, centred around the ceremonial use of Ayahuasca as a sacred medicine for reflection, healing and connection.
Through intentional ceremony, music and community, participants are invited into a deeply introspective experience that can encourage self-discovery, emotional awareness and a renewed connection with themselves and the world around them.

SANTO DAIME / AYAHUASCA
Ayahuasca is a traditional Amazonian plant medicine with a long history of ceremonial and spiritual use. In the Santo Daime tradition, the sacrament—known as Daime—is typically prepared from the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and Psychotria viridis leaves. Santo Daime itself emerged in the Brazilian Amazon in the 1930s through the teachings of Mestre Raimundo Irineu Serra, blending Amazonian traditions with Christian and other spiritual influences.
WHAT IS THE EXPERIENCE LIKE?
Ayahuasca contains DMT alongside naturally occurring beta-carbolines that inhibit MAO-A, allowing DMT to become orally active. Experiences vary considerably, but may include vivid imagery, heightened emotions, introspection, changes in perception and a profound sense of spiritual or personal connection. Effects generally unfold over several hours.
Physical effects can include nausea, vomiting, increased heart rate or blood pressure, dizziness and physical discomfort. Vomiting—sometimes referred to ceremonially as purging—is relatively common. Emotionally challenging experiences, anxiety or temporary confusion can also occur.
SAFETY & PREPARATIONS
Ayahuasca is not appropriate for everyone. Its MAO-inhibiting compounds can interact dangerously with certain medications and substances, particularly some antidepressants and other serotonergic drugs. Medical and medication screening is therefore an important part of responsible practice.
Research into ayahuasca's potential effects on depression, anxiety, wellbeing and other areas of mental health is ongoing. Early findings are promising in some areas, but ayahuasca should not be described as a proven cure or replacement for appropriate medical or mental-health treatment.
IS THIS RIGHT FOR ME?
Ayahuasca can be a deeply introspective and emotionally intense experience, and it may not be appropriate for everyone. Responsible participation begins with an honest conversation about your physical health, mental health, medications and intentions.
Extra caution or medical guidance may be necessary if you have a cardiovascular condition, a history of certain serious psychiatric conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take medications that may interact with ayahuasca—particularly certain antidepressants and other serotonergic medications. Never stop or alter prescribed medication simply to participate in a ceremony without consulting the appropriate healthcare professional.
Every person's circumstances are different. Screening before participation helps identify potential risks, answer questions and determine whether the experience is appropriate for you.
Not sure? Speak with our team before requesting a ceremony. We welcome questions and encourage informed, intentional participation.
