Rapé
Rapé is a traditional Amazonian plant medicine made from finely powdered botanicals, traditionally prepared and shared by Indigenous communities for grounding, cleansing, focus and spiritual connection.
Used intentionally in ceremonial settings, Rapé is administered through the nose and can create an immediate, powerful experience. It is often approached as a practice of stillness and presence, inviting participants to quiet the mind, reconnect with the body and deepen their awareness of the present moment.

RAPÉ (HAPé)
Rapé is a traditional Amazonian preparation made from finely powdered plants. Formulations vary between traditions, but many contain tobacco—often Nicotiana rustica—combined with alkaline plant ash and, in some preparations, other botanicals. It has a long history of ceremonial use among Indigenous peoples of the Amazon, where different communities maintain their own methods, traditions and purposes surrounding its preparation and use.
WHAT IS THE EXPERIENCE LIKE?
Rapé is administered through the nose using a specialized applicator, producing effects that are typically immediate and relatively short-lived. The initial sensation can be intense and may include pressure or burning in the nose, watering eyes, increased salivation, dizziness, nausea or occasionally vomiting.
After the initial intensity passes, people may experience heightened alertness, stillness, grounding or a strong awareness of the body and present moment. Experiences vary considerably depending on the preparation, setting and individual.
SAFETY & PREPARATIONS
Because many Rapé preparations contain tobacco, they can deliver significant amounts of nicotine, which is addictive and can temporarily increase heart rate and blood pressure. The strength and ingredients of traditional preparations can also vary considerably.
Anyone with cardiovascular concerns, sensitivity to nicotine, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or other relevant medical conditions should discuss participation with an appropriate healthcare professional. Knowing what is contained in the specific Rapé preparation is an important part of informed participation.
IS THIS RIGHT FOR ME?
Rapé can be physically intense despite its relatively brief effects, and it should not be approached simply because it is plant-based or traditionally used. Responsible participation begins with understanding the preparation being offered, its ingredients and how those ingredients may affect your health.
If you have cardiovascular concerns, take medications that could be relevant, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have difficulty tolerating nicotine, or have questions about your physical or mental health, additional medical guidance may be appropriate before participating.
Every person's circumstances are different. Screening and an open conversation beforehand provide an opportunity to discuss your health, intentions and concerns and determine whether participation is appropriate for you.
Not sure? Speak with us before participating. Questions are welcomed, and informed, intentional participation is encouraged.
One thing I deliberately changed compared with our other pages: I'm being more explicit about nicotine here. I don't want Cosmic Force accidentally implying that Rapé is inherently harmless because it's a traditional plant medicine. It can absolutely be presented respectfully as a medicine within the tradition while still being transparent about what it contains and its risks.
